Staff Sergeant Alberta N. Pittman distinguished herself by meritorious service while serving as Nondestructive Inspection Craftsman, 911th Air Refueling Squadron, 916th Air Refueling Wing, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina. During this period, Sergeant Pittman's outstanding professionalism, skill, and knowledge was evident when she meticulously inspected 10 KC-135R main landing gear wheels, verifying their structural integrity and aiding in the return of the 459th Air Refueling Wing's grounded fleet to mission capable status. Additionally, Sergeant Pittman discovered faulty ultrasonic probes during the evaluation of a GE engine kit and coordinated the expeditious replacement and calibration of the kits which significantly decreased aircraft downtime. Furthermore, she led the reactivation of two major technical order accounts and inspected 268 technical orders, manuals, and job guides, uncovering and correcting 178 findings, enabling simultaneous deployments to two different locations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Senior Airman Christopher F. Chandler distinguished himself by outstanding achievement while serving as Nondestructive Inspection Journeyman, 354th Maintenance Squadron, 354th Maintenance Group, 354th Fighter Wing, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. During this period, Airman Chandler's exceptional skill and ceaseless efforts directly contributed to the 168th Air National Guard's success in meeting maintenance requirements on all assigned KC-135R aircraft. Specifically, he accomplished nondestructive inspections during isochronal, mid-point, and programmed depot maintenance extensions when they lacked this capability due to loss of personnel. In addition, his sense of urgency returned Due In From Maintenance assets within eight hours instead of two days, enabling the 168th to quickly recover 185,000 dollars. Finally, Airman Chandler's selflessness exemplified the "Total Force Integration" concept and aided the 168th Maintenance Group in supporting Operations OLYMPIC TITAN and NORTHERN DENIAL.
